Hey,
My trans builder says that the higher you go with a stall converter, the softer the shifts will be.
I had a B&M 2400 converter in my car and it shifted real firm, not tire chirping, but you could feel it. I then had the tranny rebuilt and put in a real converter. Edge 3200 nonlock. I can no longer feel it shift hard, but it still shifts lightning quick.
Anyone ever notice this?
Is it true?
thanks

T5 swap = only shifts as hard and fast as you do...

Kidding, I put a 2400 stall in and never noticed a difference in shifting or the car performing better. I think I got ripped off though, so I wouldn't judge by my car.

I've got a 3000 stall in mine, though I also have a full (only) manual valve body. So depending at which RPM I shift, it can be soft and gentle or it can be neck-snapping. I love it.

So wait I'm confused. What is stall? I thought I knew what it was but apparently I was wrong.

Yeah thats what I heard to. I put a 2800 in mine before I put a shift kit in and it felt fine. I don't think the AOD's are effected to much by higher stalls. Except for the need of a cooler after a stall installation.

I have a 3500 Stall on my 408. In the lower RPM's you can hardly tell its shifting, but when your on it, it will break your neck if you not ready for it.

Good, i thought something happened when the trans was rebuilt to make it shift softer. I would describe my shifts as very "tight", but not tire chirping.

The nonlock will shift softer, and thats why the baumann shift kit has different settings for nonlock. I just got rid of the lockup added 500 more stall and did the stator upgrade for my edge. Call andre at edge and ask if the stator upgrade would help.
