I've got 10.5:1 pistons and I wont run on anything lower than 93. But im sure if you had the timing backed down enough (shouldnt take much) that you could run a 10.5 on 91 with no problems.
i dont know, ive heard that its not good to put lower octane in these motors because the motor cant burn it and stuff, why would 93 not be better?? just wondering i dont know why
93 octane isnt bad at all, hell if i had the money id use it
but for some engines u can run lower and get same performance
like for instance if ur bumping up the timing u want 93 octane
takes longer for detonation = no pinging
its funny when these ricers run 93 octane with like 2 bottles of octane boosters for majority of them, assuming stock motor and stock internals it doesnt do much but burn up there cats and make them think there faster, its alot mental
If you have a stock 5.0 with stock timing and you arent racing it, or driving it hard run 87. Its what ford recomends actually. but once you bump the timing up a few degrees you need to run higher octane to stop detonation from occuring. My dad accidently put 87 in my car one day, KNOCKED like crazy. as soon as I could I filled the tank up with 93 and it all stopped, but while the tank was full with 87 I had to foot around and didnt get to go full throttle for a while.
o ok i get it now, my mom uses 93 octane on her stock(not like u would want to fix one up anyways) mitsubisti oulander 4banger i keep telling her use 87 ur wasting money but she dosent understand
