Car in question is a 1989 Mustang LX hatch with 302 HO and 5sp (T-5?).

I was wondering if the ecm for an 89 lx ho 302 / 5sp would work with a non ho engine. I have heard 50/50 on if it would or wouldn't work. I'm new to the blue oval side of things. This mustang I have seems to be a basket case of sorts. I know that there are two different firing orders.

One other question fuel related. Should there be any air coming out of the shreader valve when releasing the fuel pressure? Its kind of like when there is just that last little bit of carb cleaner in the can. I also noticed the fuel coming out was pretty warm not like scalding but pretty warm.

The firing order is different between HO and non HO engines. The computer will run the engine, but at considerable loss of efficiency and power.

Firing order off: HO & 351 use a different firing order from the non HO engines.
HO & 351W 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8
Non HO 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8
