Holy Crap!

So, I did it.

I changed out my front suspension. After many hours of blood, sweat, temper tantrums and some more blood, I finished it. The car drives much better. The right tools would have been great ie: air tools, the springs were a B#%ch, scary too! The 2nd side was much smoother. I was at my witts end and ready to sell the car there for a while, as I am just now realizing that this thing is going to eat money worse than my wife's horse.

PS. for those who have not done this before, either find a friend who knows what they are doing or pay to have it done.

I've done springs dozens of times, and it's still scary. I understand the tools, have all the right stuff, comprehend the physics of what's going on, and it's still scary. I just always picture my nuts getting violently removed from the vicinity somehow.

Just to make ya feel a bit better -- when we were in high school & stupid, my buddy & I compressed a coil spring from a '70 all the way, and then chucked it up in the air to land on the concrete while diving behind the heaviest cover we could find. Nothing happened.

Mine actually fall out when the car is up on four stands. The only challenge then is too get the car back down and the springs re-seated. Have to use the old screwdriver up top to hold the sping in place while the jack is dropped with the other hand. Or, as everyone suggest, buy a case and have a friend help.

As a side note. If possible get the entire front end off the ground when changing springs................otherwise swaybar compression is fighting you the entire job.

i have 720 1' lowering springs in mine and the are about like historic describes and i haven't done the shelby drop yet. mine aren't quite as bad as that though, i can put it all back together with the shock in place and don't have to guide the springs while lowering the car, though i suspect that after i do the drop i will have to.

- But, it's still scary to do each time... i'm just afriad of the spring compressing tool slipping while i've got my fingers close by or in there... not a good feeling.
