Changed the oil, oil filter and air filter on the Cobra and headed down to the Kwik trip for some gas. Got about 10 blocks away and OMG I smell burning oil. I didnt spill any. Pull up to the pumps and get out and look back to see the oil stream behind my car going into the street. Look under and theres the puddle and oil sprayed everywhere under the car from the filter back on the drivers side. PANIC
Was gonna have it towed, nobody would come out on a Sunday night. I wasnt going to drive it back home and risk a sieze up. Couldnt leave it on the lot and had to take a chance. Bought 10 qts of 5w20 and away I went stopping and checking it every couple of blocks and adding if I needed it. Talked to a guy at the Kwik Trip in a 5.o that pulled up and told him I just changed the oil and I thought I blew a seal. He looked at the amount of oil and said i dont think so.... you got the filter in too tight and stipped a thread on it, just back it out easy when you change it.
Are you ready for this stupid mistake? I get home and the Wife says ok what did you screw up with an oil change. I said nada and showed her the old filter and said it had a good coat of oil on the seal and all. She says what and I show her the seal on the old filter. Holy **** the seal on the old filter is gone. OMG it was left stuck on there when I put the new filter on and I didnt see it. Do I feel like a dufus or what. Now I have a ****load of oil to clean up in the garage and driveway.
Anybody know If I can take the car wash spray gun and set it to soap and will it spray good enough to get all of the oil out from under the car???
