Home Emissions Test?

Hey,
Anyone ever hear of such a thing? I came close to the limit last inspection and want to see if changing my 02 sensors and fixing vac leak reduced emissions.

get a wide band 02........and compare the readings with what is the limit. re-placeing o2's never hurt and in fact most of the time they help.

there are some scanners out there that can allow you to supposedly view PID's and emissions stuff. let me know if you are interested, i have a study on scanners saved somewhere.

IIRC, an actron CP9145 will work (www.actron.com)
AutoXray also is well liked. www.autoXray.com - i think. it is too early.

Put a canary next to your exhaust pipe and run the car for 5 minutes. If the canary dies, you failed the emissions test.

There actually is some logic behind this. Canaries were used in coal mines to warn the miners if there was bad air in the mineshafts they worked in.

you could put the wife next to the tail pipe for a bit but that's only recommended if you were planning on replacing her anyway.
