Home made paint booth?

I recently bought an 6hp 20gal(I think), 155psi aircompressor with a full set of paint tools. I am planning on building a COLLAPSABLE paint booth for my garage or driveway. I want to use either wood w/ hindges, or PVC pipe and elbows. I could do both and nail wood to the PVC, so I can staple a plastic tarp to it.

Anyone done this before, or have any input before I fabricate one?

When this is done I will post pics!

I'm planing to build a pvc booth when I paint my truck, using the thickest plastic I can find, probably some of the 6 mill that Ace has and staple it to some 1x2 strips of wood, then screw it to the pipe. I think pvc would be easier to disassemble and store, as long as you don't glue all the fittings you can just pull it all apart when your finished and roll up the plastic.

Just make sure you have some proper venilation built into that thing and for god sakes... MAKE SURE IT IS ABSOLUTELY DUST FREE before you start painting.

If you only plan on painting one or two cars and you already have a garage why not use that?I have painted a couple of vehicles in my garage and what I do is run a rope across the ceiling on either side of the vehicle and drape plastic sheeting from floor to ceiling.I loop the plastic around the top so I can pull it back like drapes.It keeps the overspray contained and the area clean and its cheap.I use an old furnace fan to vent the area and it seems to work well.Some municipalities have bylaws against painting a vehicle at home and a paint booth would be fairly obvious.Also observe proper safety precautions, no pilot lights and some modern paints contain isocyanates which are nasty cancer causing agents which require more than a charcoal style respirator to keep you safe.

i think lil red pony ideal was good whith not glueingn the fittings together you roll it up
