Anyone make an EVAP system smoke machine? Couple pretty good videos on youtube. Thinking about trying the one with the bucket, baby oil, and soldering iron (sounds like the makings of a fun night) haha.

I built this one last summer. Worked great! http://www.pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/forum/general-chat/topic35820.html

This is mine with my daughter helping me test it out. [emoji2]

Looks great! How long will this smoke for before needing more baby oil? I find with finding leaks it takes 5-10 mins and multiple attempts to really inspect everything. Do you disconnect the battery to "turn it off" and let the smoke clear before trying again?

I'm not sure. I actually found my leak very quickly so I didn't use all the oil that I had put in there. It'll smoke for quite a while. Yes cutting the power kills the smoke. I just flipped the switch on my inverter when I was done. Beware the baby oil stinks when it burns. Lol

Thanks! Maybe I'll use mineral oil. That's what the "real" smoke machines use anyway.

So I missed out on this tool in class. How do you use this baby oil bong to detect leaks?

I just plugged it into a vacuum line and where the smoke comes out, there's the leak.
