Here is Andy's thread about installing one. I put mine in series on the line from the PCV valve to the upper intake (there is a tee behind the intake where the hose hooks up - I removed the OEM line and ran new line).

I honestly think you;ll be ok...
Just get one and try it out...I only use a synthetic blend anyway.

If one was to use a separator with a sintered bronze element, I dont see how that could be eaten by oil.
