Whoa 3 times !!!! After the 2nd I wouldn't get in my car without depends on Seriously though I hope someone who has the heat extractor hood can let us know whether it solved the problem or not. I would hate to spend that kind of money on something that doesn't work. Although the hood does look great. Im not much of a hood pin fan. At least not for these cars.

yeah i know they will be here monday. the dealer has replaced the latch and has adjusted the hood bumpers. still does it. i would adjust the bumpers myself but i refuse to do any work on a car i bought with 12 miles on it and paid 20k+ for. ford can pay the dealer to fix, maybe they will figure out something is wrong with the stupid things. any way pins will be on next week

my only concern is how they will look on a factory hood without a scoop or anything.

It showed a bigger pic when I clicked on it. Try this and click on the pic on top of the page. If it doesn't work then

So, does installing the pins stop the shake due to their location or just give you peace of mind from it possibly coming open?

Hood pins stop the shake, and gives you piece of mind

I ordered mine through Shelby directly for $95.00 shipped..I wanted the black ones, so I had to get the Shelby logo, its not too bad though

It gives the hood three anchor points at the front instead of just the one in the center. That doesn't allow any incoming air to lift up the hood front(the S197 front end is like a brick wall with holes and the hood overlapping the grill traps the air instead of allowing it to smoothly flow over top)which in turn provides piece of mind

Also putting a hood with functional extracter vents will eliminate that as it allows the air to escape and not build up as much pressure under the hood.

the hood actually did fly open on one of the mustangs that race in the grand am series they air on speed tv. Their fix for it was hood pins.

About hood vents... are there any issues one would have to worry about with rain, ice? i know the gt500 has hood vents, any precautions taken by ford in the engine bay?

As long as your air filter isn't underneath the vents and you don't shove a garden hose in it and aim it at the air filter, you're fine. The 03/04 Cobra's have the hood vents too and there are no problems with them either.

Also, I had the hood shake problem and by adjusting the hood I got it fixed. I made one side of the hood probably 1/6" higher than the other side and for some reason that seemed to work out well. Car has seen speeds of 155+ and there was no shake at all.
