I am debating if I should keep my hood lining, it is all raggedy looking and really makes the car look like crap with the hood open. I heard that if you remove it, heat from the engine will discolor your hood. Has anybody removed theirs or heard of the same thing I heard of?

I removed mine in my old 96 and after about 2 years you could see a color difference between the hood and the rest of the car. The only thing that it did was fade the color. To be honest, I'm not even sure if removing the hood liner was to blame.
