I was thinking of putting a hood strut kit on my 92 Mustang. I wanted to know what you guys think of them, and how they look! If you guys have pics even better. My engine bay is all smoothed out so I don't want some big nasty brackets under my hood.....Thanks!

They are sick. Soooo much more modern than the prop rod. I have the elite kit from Redline Tuning and I couldn't be happier with them. I have no pics but they definatly dont look bulky or gaudy.

My buddy has them on his GT and i'm so jealous of them. Every time i open his hood i'm looking for the prop out of habit. It also makes it really easy to work on since the rod isn't in your way. I'll see if i can find pics..

^^^ That's the same kit my buddy has. Very nice stuff. I've been thinking about making my own kit but it's only like $65 so by the time i made all the stuff myself i probably wouldn't do it any cheaper.

Same here, the Elite kit. Very nice piece and it's such an invaluable thing to have!

I have the redline kit too. Their website has all the instructions there too. It takes 2, one to do the mounting and someone or something to hold the hood up. I just used a cheap hand held rivit gun from O'reilly's to install mine.

Have you ever had a hood come up? Trust me I doubt these would stop it! Ask me how I know...............

No kidding. They'll actually probably tear the mounting plates right off of your fiberglass hood if you have one, too.

Of course, if you still run your safety catch like you should (!!!) that wouldn't be a problem to begin with.

My problem is at car shows when its windy. The hood blows up and the prop rod is no use at that time!

I think mine slammed down once w/these because of the direction the wind was blowing. It was very hard, obviously. Never had a problem w/the prop but I have seen others whose hoods got blown off of it only to clank back down on it.
