Hooking up tach

my friend bought one for his 79 chevy truck and it came today. i wanna hook it up temporarily to the stang and mess with it i know where the power and lights go, bt theres 2 other wires, one goes to the coil, where do i pt that? and the other goes to the tach something? where do i put these? thanks!

Color of wires differs from brand to brand, but as I remember from the one I used to have:

Red - Ignition-switched 12v power source (can use a jumper off your radio fuse, for example)
Black - Ground (duh)
White - Backlighting (switchable with interior lights, I just leave mine to switch on with the ignition)
Green - Coil "signal" wire

where can i tell which one it is!?!? theres just a harness that plugs into the coil.
