You can fix it easy. What happens is the foam between the two contact plates gets old and the plates touch when you don't want them to. I took mine apart and shoved some cotton balls in there put it back together works good as new. Took 10 minutes tops.

I did the same, but tried using some fancy foam rubber stuff. The button is real stiff now too, but works. Maybe I'll take it apart and try cotton.

Cotton, paper or foam should all work, all you need is something to keep the plates apart till you press them together. 89MustangGX mine is a little stiff too even with the cotton.

I checked on the price a few years back, and Ford wanted $75 for it!!! So I did the thin foam route. I used some headliner material, cut to shape and I cut out holes for the bumps in the plate so it would contact good when the horn is pressed. Cost me about $1 for the material and it has been working perfectly for the past 3 or 4 years. Some guys have used the thin sponges or scouring pads with success. Anything about 1/8 - 3/16" thick that will compress and expand again should work.

Good luck!

Miracles - the search button worked and this was the exact info I needed!

My horn came on last nite when my Chevy buddy parked next to the car and stayed on until I got the fuse out. Christine, she's funny like that.

I used a piece 3M scotchbrite pad, cut it in circular shape like the origional foam, cut one center hole & a hole at each corner for contact only(12,3,6,9,o'clock). It's worked beatifully for about 1 & 1\2 years now.....
