Horn Contactors

I recently installed a new steering wheel that utilizes a Grant adapter kit. Since I had the wheel off, I took the liberty of replacing the turn signal/horn contactor mechanism. Everything worked great for about two months when I started hearing a scratching noise from the steering column.

After removing the wheel I discovered that the little conductors for the horn were completely worn away and the springs which kept pressure the the copper plate was what was making the scratching noise. I ended up having to remove the pins completely and now don't have a functional horn. :(

Has this happened to any of you? Any ideas to repair the part versus replacing with a completely new part?
