Horrible Noise Under The Hood

I was snooping around in my dad's garage looking for window washing fluid, when I found a product that supposidly decreases the noise coming from your engines belt. It also read it would extend the life of your belt. What could it hurt to spray a little on my belt to extend the life of my car? :rlaugh: One hour later it now sounds like one of those annoying locusts got under my hood. The car makes the sound whenever the car is on no matter what. I tried sparaying WD40 on the belt, but it only stops the sound until the WD40 wears off. Please help

:bang: :bang: :bang: :bang:

This may be cheaper than buying a new belt. Try taking it to the local do-it-yourself car wash and add the degreasing agent to the belt and then pressure wash it. That gunk may still on the belt causing the noise. I know it's a long shot, but it is cheaper than purchasing a new belt.

good luck :)

:stupid: J/K Good idea, but don't spray the motor with the engine running.

Besides breaking down the belt, WD-40 seems like a bad idea to me to use on a belt. I'd think that would be a good way to cause the belt to come off from being to slippery.
