So i was daydreaming at work today and got to thinking of what i'd do if i ever wrecked the Merkur. I figured something cool would be if i could find an SVO that's maybe wrecked to hell and back, but the nose is still good, and resurrect it onto a coupe and swap my motor into it. (slips on flame suit )

I figure i've never seen it done....and since i've already got the Pacecar/'82 GT coupe, why not? I'd only do it on the rare occasion that i found a totally jacked up SVO since those noses are rarer than any other nose and even then i'd really have to think about it since i'm sure i could find an SVO owner who could put it to better use.

But just picture it....i could swap the nose and the little flairs at the front of the rear wheel wells, and then take the old school sail panels and fill them in and do some fiberglass work on them and shape them up to look like the SVO sail panels, then drop my 2.3t in it. I'd have to get the hood as well to make the look complete. Then finish it up with a 5 lug swap and the traditional SVO wheels..

I doubt it'll EVER happen though since finding SVO parts is hard enough. I think what would happen sooner is finding a really old coupe, something like a '79 Ghia or something and swapping it into that and leave it bone stock looking, right down to the hub cap 13's.....and make a serious sleeper/corner carver out of a car that NOBODY would ever suspect.

But anyways has anyone ever seen an SVO coupe clone? I thought forever that i was the only one crazy enough to make a Capri coupe clone but then that's happened as well...

I'd be all for it if the situation was right for it. It would have to be swapped onto an early 4 eye car, and even then i'd have to have a damn good reason to swap the nose from that car. There's a whole lot of what if's to deal with.

I was just thinking all this because the other day i noticed that the Merkur's fenders are WELDED ON from the factory....this disturbs me because if it's ever wrecked in the front then i'm pretty much done with it...

yeah but their like insanely priced, imo its not worth it, just swap a 2.3t in your car, it would be very much easier!!

you need to get someone to photoshop you a prototype...and you'll see what it looks like in a picture....and it will either inspire you or completely disgust you....who knows

i like the idea, but if it were me it'd be a black notch with the 84 svo front, 83-86 tails, 87-93 interior, draglites skinnies and fatties, and the front sitting a little lower than the back.

Well, it's a start, but it really needs old style quarter glass and the rear fender flairs to pull off the whole look.

I'll never build it...it's out of my budget...i can't afford the rolling piggy bank i have already. Also i have to admit, i used to lust after the idea of a Capri coupe but now that a few people have done it, i really don't like how they turned out. For the SVO it has to look like a factory Ford SVO coupe or i think it'll look funny.
