How are Patriot Heads?

I'm planning out what parts I'm going to buy for my engine build in March. I'm shooting for a 2V 300 RWHP N/A engine. For the heads, I was thinking about using Patriot Heads. Anyone have experiance? VT Heads are $800 more expensive. I've read that the Stage 3 Heads are crap. Is that true? Should I stick with Stage 2's? Are the gains better with Patriot Stage 2 or 3 Heads than with stock P&P PI with a set of VT Stage 2 N/A cams?

There are tons of post about patriot heads, i personally was going to do them untill i read about them. You get what you pay for basically, go with vt or mph.

the few members here on stangnet that acctually have them have no complaints from when i did my threading/ searching.

A guy I know has a built 94 GT with Patriot Heads (not sure which stage) and loves them. He told me they used to have some quality problems but have now fixed them.

I've installed quite a few of their heads on 2v mustangs. From I've seen, the older heads had issues with valve guides and valve seals. Lately I haven't seen any issues. The one good thing is if you do have a problem, they will always take care of the problem by fixing the heads. The only down side would be cost of labor to remove and reinstall and new head gaskets. If they gave me a set I'd install them

havent had a prob with mine, 32K miles still going strong on the new mtr.

Go for it. Too many people on this board are convinced that if it didn't come from MPH, it mustn’t be any good. Prove them wrong and still have money left over for a set of cams.

I would skip on the Patroit heads they are crappy to say the least.
So many people have had issues with Patroit heads it's not even funny.
Go with VT.
Talk to Scott he will hook you up!

As an alternative in your search, I ended up selecting MMR - they had a really good balance on quality, price, service, and of course performance.

Another alternative......

Fox Lake does an equally nice set of heads as well. Some of the fastest street oriented 4.6L's I know of have run them. And they've never had quality or reliability issues if you're not convinced that Patriot has ironed there's out.

There is a performance shop locally that installed patriot heads on both ls1's and newer 4.6 l mustangs and says the qualilty is great! With the heads and cams both engines put down good numbers! Also one of the big shops back in texas is a dealer for them now and says for an extra 3-5 hp for 500-800 bucks more really aint worth it.....the patriots have had issues in the past i.e. but that was over a year ago and the problems are fixed! The cost for other heads and cams equals patriot heads with your choice of cam and install......

I've also hard (on this board) that Patriot heads are now working out very well on 2v Mustangs.
