How bad is Code 511 ??

Ive had a check engine light since last weds.


Scanned the codes tonight threw a 111,113 and 511


111- System Pass

113- Intake Air Charge Temperature sensor above maximum voltage -*40

511- Read Only Memory (ROM) Test failure.

The tuner said its caused from the chip and that it is normal. Im leaving the battery unpluged over night to see if it clears the 113 code b/c it has a new IAT sensor in it

Correct, 511 is thrown if you have a chip. You may still need to clear the codes manually; I believe some codes are not cleared by disconnecting the battery.

How do you clear them manually b/c I left the battery unhooked all night and they did not clear.


It also has a 998 (running in failure mode) when its running, whats that one?

If you have a code reader then it has an option to clear the codes. If you're using the "count the blinks" method, I'm honestly not sure how to clear the codes. I've always used a code reader. Perhaps some one else can pitch in on this one.

did the codes not clear or was the 113 code not fixed?? disconnecting the battery will erase a 113 as well as the KAM.

to clear just the KOEO (continuous) codes when using the 'blinking' method. disconnect the jumper during the test. the hard codes are suppose to clear after completing the self-test.

if you jumper the connector do you get a 112 or 117??

I dont know what jumping the connector is, all I did was plug in the scanner and posted the codes that it threw at me and leaving the battery unhooked didn't do anything to erase them.

remove the Intake Air Charge Temperature sensor. place a jumper wire (small wire or paperclip) across the terminals of the wiring harness connector in place of the Intake Air Charge Temperature sensor.

rerun the codes. did you get a code 112??

disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes will erase the codes but if the problem has not been fixed then the code will reappear.
