How bad will gears effect my mileage?

i will answer your post but there is alot of threads on this subject if you search not to sound rude or anything but this does come up alot........

4.10's= N/A and minimal freeway driving

3.73's = F/I and moderate highway driving

but the honestly the difference between both is like 200 rpm and if you dont get on the go fast pedal and do over 80mph you'll be ok as far as MPG goes

Please, dont let MPG determine what gear ratio you go with, unless you're considering 4.56s for a daily highway commute.

Decide based primarily on what your plans are for the car perforamance wise.

dang people.
4.10's combo driving I get 20mpg.
4.10's just highway driving average 75-80 mph 24 mpg.
4.10's combo driving and racing and spraying 20mpg.
4.10's combo driving drag racing on the spray and autocrossing 18mpg.

That answer your question?

Sort of depends on what year you have and what tranny you have in the tunnel. The 3650s have a different gearing than the T-45s and are supposed to get better gas mileage.

But with gas prices the way they are, you're pretty much screwed anywayz. You're gonna get hammered at the pump even if you keep the stock ones.

Simply stated, "Do you want to spend $200 a month on gas or do you want to spend $205??? For the performance I'd get from a 4.10, what's an extra $5a month. Give or take a couple of $$$.....:D

if you staying n/a go 4.10's. the milage difference is not going to be much and you need the gear. I mean I am n/a right now on 3.73'a and if I were staying that way I would be kicking myself for not going 4.10.

I plan on boosting my car eventually so I decided on 3.73's. I can say I did not notice any real change. i can't even say I lost 1mpg with 3.73's but is seems like a should have lost something.

as far as tranny t-45 has .67 5th and the 3650 has .62 5th so at cruise rpm there is not enough difference to notice much. I can't imagine any more .5mpg difference in the two if that.

What about freeway racing

Quick question guys. How are the 4.10's working out for you [lets say] rolling down the freeway and racing from a 75-80MPH kick... Not that any of us would do anything so against the law :rlaugh: . But as we know the number for the gears [3.73 and 4.10] refer to the number of turns the driveshaft have to make to turn the wheels to make one revalation. So I was just trying to get some feedback from you guys on weather or not it holds true or if it is so insignificant that it really doesnt matter. I have a friend with 3.90's and he jumps out but can be ran down around 3rd or 4th gear. Looking foward to hearing some personal feedback from you guys

Like said 4.10s if staying N/A FOREVER! If you even remotly plan to get a S/C/nitrous/turbo then get 3.73s. I have 3.73s and loved them...needed 4.10s after cams, and was tempted to change them. But I made a random desision and am getting turbod. Had I went 4.10s I would have had to pull them right back out lol.

BTW I have a cammed/full bolton GT, and with the 3.73s get 25MPG with 95% highway...and 27 with 100% highway. I get better mailage than when stock...if I keep my foot out of it.
