the two front "filament post things" on the mass air sensor were just about black?

My car is out of commission until I can get my radiator fixed, or replaced, so I decided to clean the MAF. The two front posts are ridiculously dirty. Would this have caused my car to start idling badly and bucking after idling for a few moments?

yes it could have been at least a contributor to it. Mine got pretty bad, and the throttle response was horrible, and the check engine light would come on just about everytime under mid-to-fast acceleration.

Yeah, it definitely would make the car run poorly. With it being dirty, the meter has a difficult time trying to measure incoming air to facilitate proper addition of fuel, in turn poor performance. Just my .02

I hope that it is the cause of my issues, it has to be a major part. I'm anxious to see how it runs, once I can get it back on the road.
