how can I pick up about 3 tenths?

before i go back (probably not this week but hopefully next) ill bump the timing and air up the fronts some, If that will get me to the 9.2's id be happy with that till next season but would eventually like to be at 8.99 sometime next year.
gotta take the wifes 01 GT sometime and get some numbers on it after the X pipe is put on, that should be fun.

Set that timing to 14 degrees, make sure u run 93 octane, that will help some! Also, make a run by removing your serp belt. If you go on a cooler day, that alone may get u there! Also i see its an automatic, are you shifting in manually or just letting it shift for you? If your letting the automatic shift itself your losing at least .3 there. Research the 1d1 shuffle, and dont listen to people saying it hurts the tranny i did it for years and had no problems on several cars. Essentially what you do is. Launch with the shifter in the 1 posistion, when you want to shift into to 2nd move the shifter into the D posistion, it takes 2-300 rpm before it will shift into 2nd so if you want it to shift around 6000 do it at 5700 rpm. As soon as you feel the transmission shift into 2nd, move the shifter back down to the 1 posistion. This allows you hold 1 and 2nd gear to any rpm you want. make sure to never take your foot off the gas.

you are running very similar times that i am. i know that tires would help my case a lot. definately spinning way too much at the launch. the last time i was out at the track it was really muggy and i ran almost my best time at 10 mph slower than my best time... i guess my car hooked and i couldnt get it to do that again that night. i was so frustrated and took off after my last pass cause i missed third.

i would like to dip into the 8's this winter. going to see about getting some different meats for the rear especially being the car is once again a garage baby.

Ive blown apart 2 AOD's doing the manual boogie, it DOES hurt them.

Manual boggie, haha i like that. I tried to destroy my AOD and couldnt do it! A buddy of mine had an AOD an he couldnt break his either. i looked at it as, its just an AOD anyways. I did it when i was bone stock went from a 15.3 to a 14.7 no other changes at all. My train of thought is, if it blew it up by just holding it to higher rpms it was on its way out anyway!!

its not the RPMs its the slamming it around in gear

I'm not an auto guy, but maybe a convertor? The guys in the thread are giving good advice. Until you've put on a good set of heads, stay away from the sauce. There's so much untapped potential if you're still running E7s. A good aluminum head, cam, and supporting bolt-on gives you the same as a 100-shot just by matting the throttle. It's so much more fun that way.

yes, very good idea. that maybe enough right there. you can buy a convertor for cheap but you get what you pay for. I'm running a redneck performance convertor right now which is like $400 bucks but looking at one from Ultimate Convertor Concepts maybe next year. They are huge dollars at $1000+ but from what I'am told are worth every penny.

 I wondered when that was coming.
I did both the auto boogie and letting it shift itself and my best time came when i left it alone.
I forgot that i had some stereo stuff in the trunk, Small sub box and amp, ill take that out next time. seeing that ive got gears and steeda LCA's can i loose the dog bone on the rear end and the quad shocks?

I would actually avoid a tire at this point. From my AOD days, traction was never really an issue, especially with a stock converter and in your case a vert. My guess, unless your on a slick track and your trac loc is shot, your car is most likely not spinning the tires and a DR or slick is only going to hurt. I did the exact same thing and actually went slower with a DR.

Losing weight out of the car is free, but can hinder its street feel. Adding power costs money, and at your stage I don't see any .3 gains with one simple (read cheap) part swap. Your at the stage where I would look into a converter, or possible dig into the engine first, heads, cam, etc...

Unfortunately your probably right, unless i have to take the heads off for some reason i probably wont be doing anything major with this car. Ill do a few little things that ive mentioned next time i run then ill turn my attention to the wifes 01 but im limited on what i can do with it because it her car, not mine.
The reason i was thinking a set of DR's was so i might be able to launch harder, as it is if i stage any higher than about 1600 then the passenger tire slips on the line.

If you are looking for a converter for cheap, you could try one of these:
Converters - Ford - AOD - F52 TT performance AOD converter - DirtyDog Performance (Powered by CubeCart) - AOD Test Torque converter

I just picked one up set to about a 2600 stall. I am actually running about the same combo as you but with mass air, 1.7 rockers and 4.10's. I have not put the converter in yet, but it should flash about 2k which would be a decent improvement.
