how can I remove E. brake handle on 99+?

I want to remove the plastice emergency brake handle so I can replace it with an aluminum one. All the manuals I looked at show the whole lever assy as one part. Has anyone torn one of these apart before, and how hard would it be to replace the handle only?

you dont remove it. The aluminum handles fit over your existing handle. dont break your wrist.
