How can I stop my......

Odometer(sp?) from rolling anymore miles. I need to pass emissions and Im gonna get it exempt but before I do I want to make sure of something.

I can only go 5000 miles in a year. Lets say Im getting close to 5000 is there a way I can disconnect my odometer for a month then hook it back up before for I show the state my mileage?

LOL what kind of fraud is this? :)

just get a cated h-pipe and take the test, you'll be fine, I just took mine, how i do not have to worry about it for 2 years, its not like you have heads, intake, cam, on the car. do you have the smog pump?

(peace) I just think the risk of getting a speeding ticket because your spedomoter is not working would outweigh the risk of the 5K inspection process.

My town has intersection photo radar and vans equiped with photo radar that partol the city. The day I took my 98 Cobra convert to the shop for a motor swap, I got a photo radar ticket in the ford focus rental car I picked up 30 minutes earlier. I was 6 MPH over the speed limit. New cars feel different and it only took a minute to laps on the (apparent) speed...and BAM - ticket city. (no flame intended. Peace -all)

6 mph over!!! man thats bull'Kiss Me''Kiss Me''Kiss Me''Kiss Me'. thats them small town right? in the chi cops dont even have radars. sometimes thay have speed traps on lake shore drive. at first i was thinking how do you get a ticket? i have no speedo cuz the tremec but i still know if i'm speeding. I can feel it.

how can you have a mustang and no radar detector? I had 2 tickets befor i got one, none since then.

I still have my stock h-pipe so I am good for emmisions...but I could disconnect my speedo and go with the legit 5k miles a year thing BECASUE my car already has a BAD title, it is already titled with ODO. fraud, so it wouldnt mena jack 'Kiss Me''Kiss Me''Kiss Me''Kiss Me' if i did it or not. Im not going to do it cause I have the stock h-pipe, but if I ever get mods and cant pass smog I can unhook because my car is already titled with odo fraud so it dont matter to my car

Exactly, My car has a 120,000 on it and the mileage is exempt on the title. If you drive under 5,000 miles a year your car it self is considered exempt by the state. So when you get the car inspected....They write the mileage on the back. Then if you say your "exempt" you can only drive it 5,000 miles in a year. Next time you get it inspected they check to see if you have gone over 5,000 miles. If you do go over this I bet you'll get a nice ticket.(that's what Im scrared). I only drive it the summer so I probably wont even come close. This is how it works in PA its probably the same in IL if you have emissions.
You won't get any kinds of tickets. The only thing that will happen is you will need to pass emissions. If you drive under 5k miles a year in PA your vehicle is emissions exempt.

Im all for this guy. Good luck my man !! If anyone is trying to mess with the odometer on a 99+ I'll just tell you, you need a chip to do it. Somehow I havent put a mile on my car in three years... :nice:

I live in illinois. As far as emmisions stands. If you invest more than 400$ trying to get your car to pass. You are exempt from the test for another two years. I went down to my local shop and them write me up slip saying the put 400 plus into my car. Why not. I gotta pass emmisions somehow.

Emissions suck! Its just a goverment money grab :notnice: I live in a petrochemical town where the discharge from the stacks of the refineries are measured in tonnes per day, not parts per million as in our mustangs. Why should a few hopped up car sway the balance? I pass emissions with the stock cats, take them off and put the O/R back on. The car runs high 12's with slicks, all emissions gear on but the cats, so the air pump and stuff can't hurt too much

Actually i know the story on why the whole state of PA has emissions now. Back in the day they were supposed to do the emissions with the sniffer in the tail pipe but PA backed out of it. The phone company MCI had fronted the money for the emission stations and what not. Since PA backed out mci had all of theese buildings around. LOng story short they sued the state. So now they do emissions making every garage buy the equipment off MCI and they only check your gas cap for vaccum pressure how that helps emissions i dunno. IF you drive under 5k a year your car is exempt from emissions and you pay like 12 dollars for a sticker instead of the regular 40. I heard in the cities like philly and pittsburg they use the sniffers but in rural areas no. Id have to say pull the cable out and the day you go for the inspection put it back in.
