My car is a 73 by the vin but the PO told me that he thinks that it has has the front swapped out for a 72. I need to replace the pass front fender and don't want to order the wrong one as there seems to be a 1 year only 73 fender.

Right now this is the best picture I have of the fenders

73

71-72

Look at the notch for the front bumper. The bigger, taller notch, extending above the marker light is the 71-72 fender. The top of the 73 is even with the marker.

it looks to me like I have a 72 from the black fenders, you agree? I really don't want to spend the money on the wrong part!

It is hard to tell from the pics but it looks to me like someone put a 71-72 chrome bumper on 73 front fenders.

There were no Chrome Bumpers in 73, No Chrome fender extensions.

So the Front is a 71/72.

If you have a 73 Vin??--Do it right, put on the 73 Fenders, 73 Bumper/Valance. Hoods are same 71-73.

To install incorrect Fenders, spend many $$$ on a restore to have a Non Correct, Freak "If you will" Mustang will be worth less money in the end?.

So do it right, take you time, build the car correct.

'73 bumbers are hard to find and they weight close to, if not over, 100lbs. Plus I personally think the '73 front end is unattractive. I had a '73 that I put a '71 front end on w/o changing the fenders.

I weighed one for shipping once. 90 pounds without the brackets.

On the other hand, I wouldn't say the 73 front is butt-ugly:

That is a purdy car, I have no love for chrome and that will be going away as well the bumper guards and trim around the car, all media blasted and painted to match.

I will be leaving the 72 front on the car, I don't have the $$ to swap everything back over nor the motivation. The hood will be changed to a nasa hood w/ functional scoops. Going to look at a wrecked car in the next couple days
