How close is to close to the springs

I've been playing with some smaller sized spacers tonight just to see how much of those 275s I can tuck under there even more than it already is. I have 1/4s, 1/8s and 1/16s. With the 1/16s on there its a little under 1/4 from the springs...is this too close to them? I didn't get a chance to test drive it that way as it was raining out. The 1/4s are fine but I figure the more in I can go the better off I'll be.

The answer obviously depends on sidewall deflection. Since you're running 15's and your tires are bulged out, you will have more sidewall deflection than someone would
with 17's of equal height. One thing you could do to try and test the fit would be putting a lot of weight on the rear end to squat the car and have a couple of buddies push the car laterally to get an idea what it would do while cornering with the suspension loaded. Personally, though, I supect you'd be okay just test driving it with the different spacers and incrementally pushing it a little harder to see if it rubs.

Thanks, thats what I planned on doing. I don't think I'll have a big gouging problem as it sits just wanted the opinon. I'll probably end up with the 1/8 just to be sure but might get away with the 1/16 which isn't much.

You'll never know unless you actually get out on the road to test.

I'd lower the air pressure to 25PSI then go and take some hard corners. Then pull off the wheels and see if you can find any signs of contact between wheel and spring.

there isn't really that much side deflection that far up the tire. if it is 1/4" to the spring it even closer to the inner fender whell on the inside of the tire!

mine are a tight 1/4" to the spring and i get a little rub on hard turns but i also have stock springs on the rear so i'm getting more spring twist then i will when i get 4 1/2 leaf reverse eye's.

Oh I worked on that inner fender quite a bit last night as well. Its about 1/4 inch there as well but just a hair closer to the springs.

Going to 4 1/2 reverse instead of the typical 5 mids...why? Won't you have trouble getting your meats in there then?

maybe the 5's...

i have the stocks with a 2" lowering block in right now- you can see in my avatar how it sits and the reverse eye should be the same without the blocks:D

Yeah, I love the stance thats why I was wondering why you where going to change it.

Well it looks like I'll be going with the 1/8s if I want NO rubbing. With the 1/16 if I make a 90 turn a little aggressivly it rubs just a touch. Nothing gouging or anything, heck not even enough to remove the letting that its hitting just enough to know it did it.

Just a side note what the hell does this mean :Teh-Win:
