If both the 2005-up mustangs and our cars both have the same internals, how come there engines can handle so much more power. I know on 99-04 the limit is 400rwhp but on 2005-up mustangs there always pushing 450-up rwhp and still holding strong.
By the book the 99-04's are rated a bit low, but i remember a guy here a couple years ago that had a built shortblock still in the crate waiting to install it when his stock 2v would finally blow up. last i checked he was at nearly 550 rwhp and still not broken - i've seen a 99-04 kenne bell 2v blow up the 1st time at the track with just over 400rwhp. think a proper tune makes a big difference on how long the motors last.
550rwhp is the exception, not the rule. the guy was lucky.
the 3V's, as stated, can handle more power because of the heads.
more flow = same power with less psi resistance and less stress.
one reason they can do it is thier heads flow better so they dont need to run as much psi to get the same numbers we do hencse less strain on parts
Well what makes power is how much air your getting into the cylinders. The 3V like said has great flowing heads, and to boot the heads LOVE timing.
So a 3V running 10PSI is like a 2V running say 13-14PSI. Problem and ONLY reason why the 2V would be less safe is because of HEAT. 13PSI make more heat than 10PSI. If you have a wicked intercooler you can run almost head to head with them as far as "safe" power is concerned, as long as the inlet temps are the same.
Im at "498RWHP" right now...but thats actually deceptivly LOW. that # was @ 8.7PSI and also 6200RPMs where the car doesnt want to make power...only reason it did is because the boost kept climbing to that peak. Thats all the boost it would get LOL. On the street is a different story and I have 3 settings. 8.9PSI, 9.5PSI, and 10.2PSI. 500RWHP, 520RWHP, 540RWHP respectively. Yep a 2V and she is still running strong.
Bingo. 500rwhp @ 8 PSI is a lot less stress than 450rwhp @ 14 PSI. hotmustang331's turbo 2V pushing nearly 500rwhp on relatively low boost is a good example of that. 3V heads happen to be efficient enough where it can make those #s on low boost with blowers as well.
Ever notice how turbo 03/04 Cobras can run over 700rwhp on 93 octane? Good luck doing that with a blower.

If you're including Terminators then their HP limit is closer to 650-700HP (not 100% sure on those numbers, i r n00b when it comes to their limits)
I've seen stock motor 4Vs put down 500rwhp on 10 PSI.
680 on 93 octane? If that's true, then everyone else must be doing something wrong.
