How Do I Seal An Aod Pan? Silicone?

Hey folks, I know this must sound like a dummy question, but how do I seal an AOD pan to the transmission case? Do I have to use sealant or us the gasket ok on its on? If so what type of sealant?

Lastly, how do I tighten the bolts? In what sequence? Should I use common sense going around in a criss cross pattern? Thanks in advance!

Silicone comes in different colors and flavors; each one has different characteristics.

I always just used the rubber gasket.
I've never had a leak.
What I will say is that while you have the pan off, put a drain in it. Not sure if the pan on an aod mustang is the same as the aode on my explorer, but there is a bung right in the bottom. Makes fluid changes about 1000 times easier.

use the rubber gasket that comes with the pan
NO silicone
Make sure the mating surfaces are clean
Make sure the pan surface is flat, not warped
Snug up the pan bolts and then maybe 6-8 ft lbs
