How do I wire a 66 center console ?

I am trying to put in a center console and trying to figure out the wiring. I have one wire under my dash that I think goes with the console but anybody who could give me the setup would be appreciated. I pulled off the shifter plate and there aren't any wires there. Based on the way the console wiring falls I assume it all meets up there.

On my '65 IIRC it had two bullet connectors drop down by the heater floor duct. A Green/yellow which was the switched power for the Courtesy lamp in the end, One for the shifter light should be Blue/Red and also A black ground was screwed into the tunnel under the carpet.

I sold the console on ebay, so I should have pictures still somewhere of the underside.

I might still have a part of the wiring somewhere too.

As mentioned above, you should have bullet connectors on the firewall, above the driveshaft tunnel. You should also have a wiring harness on your console.

What you may not have is the "intermediate" harness that connects the 2 harnesses together.

I will double check the bullet connectors at the heater duct. I think I recall seeing one but I am not 100% sure about two.

My wiring harness runs the length of the console. I don't know if I need one to connect mine to the existing wiring. I will have to look at the connectors.

It's no big deal if it doesn't wire up because I just wanted the console. If it wires up that's gravy. I would like to get that shifter to light up though...hadn't thought about that.

You need the intermediate harness

which is available through NPD, and I'm sure others as well. It's pretty cheap, and has the correct connectors and lenth. The intermediate harness allows you to plug in to the accessory taps under the dash, then runs under the carpet to the opening at the shifter. At this point you plug into the harness that is on your console. You will add one ground at the shifter.
That's all it takes.

Good luck,

Scott

I found the old pics of the console and the extesion wiring too.
