How do you get the top lid off a t5

I think I remember the proper proceedure.....

someone help me if incorrect...

you need to remove the shifter, the shifter block that is attached to the shift rod then you need to remove the tailshaft housing.

Yes, either in the tailshaft housing or under the shifter, there is a roll pin that holds the rev or fifth shift fork or something in. you have to tap it out to remove the shift rail. There are excellent t5 rebuild directions on the net somewhere also.

since you had to ask that i'm guessing you've never been into a t5 before, and there's nothing wrong with that (thats how you learn stuff), but i would definitely download the free t5 service manual, it will not only show you how to do things right so you don't have to order a rebuild kit to get new soft parts, but also make it a lot easier your first time around.

hissin should have the link to the t5 service manual IIRC, or you could do a search on t5 rebuild or something like that, the link has been posted up numerous times and should not be hard to find

See http://www.ttcautomotive.com/English/onlineorder/product.asp to download a FREE service manual for T5 or Tremec 3550
You will need the Adobe Acrobat viewer which is also a free download – http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

See http://www.hanlonmotorsports.com/ or http://www.ddperformance.com/index2.htm for parts

A T5 rebuild kit with syncros, bearings and other small parts costs about $160. It does not include any gears or shafts.

http://cartapes.com also has a video on how to rebuild your T5 or Tremec. It costs less than $20, and is worth every penny of it.
