how do you identify

how do you identify a tranny? how do you distenguish between the t5 and t45 and whats the stock tranny for a 93 lx 2.3? im gonna buy a new one and i wanna make sure that i get the right one.

87-93 2.3s came only with a4ld automatics or t5 manuals

thanks. i owe you one. now i can take mine out rebuild it and stick a new one in it to drive around on while i work on the other one.

you gonna rebuild it yourself? Tranny rebuilding is an art. If you are good with those 5000 piece puzzles then you would probably be good with tranny rebuilding.

I doubt you can find a "new" tranny for a 4 cyl. but I may be wrong. Just have yours rebuilt by a professional. If you really want to learn how to do it, buy a used one and rebuilt it yourself and then replace yours. Used 4 cyl trannys go for cheap because there are so many of them. Don't do it twice. I just finished pulling my engine a tranny a couple of hours ago. The engine was easy, the tranny is a PITA.
