How do you know if you have floating valves?

I was told that my valves may be floating cause I just installed them and didn't pressurize... pressur...pleasus..them, or something like that. Is it true? If so, how do I find out? I mean, a guy who knows about stangs helped me install them. We filled the cylinder with air and even turned the engine to block the valve with the piston. After that, we installed new 1.7s crane rockers, and that was it. Should I be worried?

How you install them has nothing to do with valve float. Valve float happens when you over-rev the spring and the lifter hops off the cam lobe thus the valve stays open longer (floats)

Ok, but how do you know. Do you just feel it or what? Cause my car revs right on to 6500rpm with no problem. The first time I took it out after the tranny swap, I didn't notice right away, but I shifted right around 6800rpm and the car got there in no time. I know it's not safe and will place a rev limiter at 6400rpm.

does the car drive right? might not be a good idea to shift that high but if there are not symptoms why worry about it.

Well it loses power....i have never felt it but it feels like it hits a brick wall or a rev limiter im pretty sure.

Yeah don't rev that high. Just shift at 6k unless you are VERY confident in your valve train.

Can the stock rods even handle 6800? I thought 6500 was pushing it even when just racing and not daily.

I know guys. I didn't realized my rpm went up that high so fast. The tranny swap just threw me off. The car spun the tires so quick that by the time I turned to look at the rpms, it was already at 6800. I've haven't let go up that high since then. I need to go to the dyno to know where I need to shift. But yeah, a rev limiter at 6400 is coming.

I have always heard 6250 in the gt's , chances are the tach of not accurate at that point though, or a tune/tuner changed it.

6250 is older GT'. 87-93 A9L's. Since you got a tweecer you can look it up.
