How do YOU stop your TOB from squealing?

Just looking for some ideas. I've used chain lube, and tightened the hell out of the cable, which made it a little better. However, when it gets hot it still squeals.

Yeah, I'm on my third one.

Yeah, this one has about 4,000 miles on it.

Yeah, I have LT headers and have to remove one to get my tranny out.

Yeah, I don't have the facilities to do it in anymore.

Any more contructive answers?

i found that my cable was stretched and it was losing contact and going off axis in rotation. i fixed this with a new quadrent and steeda adjustable cable, better pedal feel and TOB went silent. YMMV

Yeah, I tried tightening it up, but it seems to want to squeak no matter what. I know some people lube it with white lithium grease, but I figured that chain lube would do the trick and it didn't.

Keep 'em comin' guys.

i tried the lithium grease too, did nothing. if you put light pressure on the pedal does the TOB stop making noise? or does it continue regardless of pedal pressure/depression distance.

Yes, it does stop with pedal pressure, but for some reason, it never stops if I tighten it more. It's really weird. I don't want to tighten it so much that the pedal feel is all messed up and it's hard to shift.

I was wondering the same thing. I posted about the same problem about a week and a half ago, does your TOB only squeel when it gets hot or is it constant?.. mine only does it when it gets hot..

I replaced mine. Did a new clutch and PP at the same time.

Mine does it, and now that I think of it it usually only happens when the car is hot! I'll prolly buy a adj. cable/quadrant to see if it fixes the problem. Save me alot of time tearing the tranny out!

Ok here is why I said replace it you have proably burned the grease out of the throwout bearing. It can happen from having a misadjusted cable to tight constant pressure on it against clucth. See it alot with people with adjustable quad. Doesn't matter how long it's been in there once it starts I doubt you'll get it to stop. Pulled one lastweekend thing was shot had been in car for 3 weeks was almost seized.
LT yeah that's what I've heard and hence the reason I don't have any, if someone knows a brand that allows tranny removal without removing them please let me know.

Well, this one is supposedly a heavy duty bearing from centerforce. It sucks. My cable was adjusted properly when the thing started squealing and I have since tightened it to stop is as much as possible. I would have to pay someone to replace it for me as I no longer have the tools or facilities available to me to accomplish it.

And yes, mine only does it once it's hot.

I have been having the exact same problem lately, my TOB squeals when it gets really hot outside/driving on the freeway for long distances. Put a little pressure on the clutch and it goes away... I was planning on pulling it out and doing the clutch at the same time, however I didnt know that you have to remove a long tube header as well? Anyone have any tips on this? What clutch/TOB should I go with? My car only has 39K on it, seems a bit premature for a TOB to go out...

Well, I love my Centerforce Dual Friction clutch, it is pricey at $300. Do not get a centerforce TOB, as I've gone through 2 and they both sqealed within 3000 miles of putting them in.

Bassani mid lengths! You do need to remove the collectors with a slide hammer, which is simple, then the tranny comes right out.
