Ok, so the water pump install was going smoothly at first, but I've already hit my first snag. How do you take off the fan clutch? I took off the four bolts that hold the fan to the fan clutch, but I don't know what to do after that. Thanks.

You should be able to remove it after you take the 4 bolts out. It must be corroded on.
Smack the end carefully where you removed the bolts ( the water pump pully end) with a rubber mallet.

I want to measure mine. It doesn't look that tall.

I usually take a c clamp and hold the belt together for leverage.

i just replaced my fan clutch the other day. with the fan out of the car, lay it flat on the ground. removed the 4 bolts, and lift the fan blades off of the clutch. that should be all it takes. mine was factory with 140k miles on it and it didnt stick or anything. a little WD40 and some wiggling should get it loose.

Yep, one little tap popped it off. Got the water pump in an now there's zero leaks and the temperature stays low.
