How do you take that stuff off the car?

I think it is called oxidation.It is white and in mostly spots I believe.It is mostly on my engine but it is on some other chrome parts too.It is on my intake,carb,taillight and back up light bezels,chrome trim etc.What will take this off?Please help!!!It is really making my car look like junk.

0000 steelwool on the chrome, and compound on the paint

The steelwool will work on the chrome as long as the oxidation has not been left there too long. Once it has eaten through the chrome and into the metal it will become etched and only replacement (or rechroming) will make it look right.

I second that previous statement.... other than that, that super fine scotch brite works wonders....
