hey guys, my car has been making this funny whirring noise that rises with the rpm. it seems like it's coming from around the intake or alternator area but i'm not sure. now when i started up the car my buddy heard the noise and he said it sounds like a dead bearing, please tell me its not so!! i'm at 60k miles now

could be your idler pulley
:stupid: But usually they don't make a "whirring" sound ... It's more like a 'wobble sqeak-ish' sound.

(if you haven't already) Check all your vaccum hoses and make sure you don't have a leak. Make sure they are all 'plugged in'. Umm .... make sure your air filter is clean and not clogged with anything ... and maybe check your belt to make sure it doesn't have any weak looking sections ...

yeah, ive heard it a few times on my car too.....when i juss turn it on and the car revs up right away it does it for a second...then when the rpms go down it stops....but it literatelly only does it for a second...right when it hits the highest rpm before it drops....

Yea i had the wobble-sqeaukish sound and replaced the idler but the noise and wobble didn't go away. Could it possibly be another pulley?
