I see that its not like a normal alarm, not that sensative, what i am asking is, do you basically have to break a window to get it to go off? just fmi thans

What anti-theft? The PATS started in '96. '94-95's had an anti-theft option?

The only one I have is this: I catch someone messing with my car, I grab a crowbar and tee off on his skull

The thought that I might be missing out on an option led me to do more research.

I checked showroom brochures for '94, '95 (US and Canadian) and '96.
Remote keyless entry was an option on 94-96 and onward (I don't have that)
Anti-theft was only listed on '96 onward.

I had a '96 Explorer (now a '02) and YES, there is a second beep when you lock the doors. I believe this is just to give you confirmation that its locked. There's that light in the dash that says 'THEFT'. It appears to flash anytime the car is locked even if you press the remote once.

I believe the anti-theft system (PATS) that started in '96 involves a 'chip' in the key as well. An identically cut key without the proper chip will NOT start the car. This ensures you go to the dealer for extra keys too

My car came factory with a ford security system. I have a led light that flashes on my cluster beside the rear defrost button. It serves as a button to turn the car into just a remote keyless entry or an ignition kill with alarm if I press it. It beeps once if I have the alarm off to tell me the doors are locked. It also beeps once when I unlock the doors. When I push the dash button it turns the alarm on and the car beeps twice when I press the lock to indicate the alarm is active. It also has a small box in the drivers kick panel that has a shock sensitive switch on it to adjust the level of shock before it goes off. Also the alarm kills the ignition when active. Came on the car from the factory!

That's an aftermarket system, really, Ford rebranded it and made it an installable option. It's not integrated into the car like PATS is.

I agree it prob is a rebranded system but it did come on the car from the factory. It was an option but the boxes say ford on them and the window has the sticker that says."This Vehicle is equiped with a ford vehicle security system" I was just explaining how mine worked, I don't know about others.

My car has this exact setup you're describing. I always thought it was installed by the previous owner, but it does say Ford on it. Does anyone else have this alarm option?

I have a flashing LED on my dash but I dunno if there's an alarm... the owner never told me and i have no remotes or whatever, might be just to scare.

I had a remote, but never had a beep, so I just bought a cheap alpine alarm system... radar sensitive... if you try to peek in the window, it'll go off

I've got a 94 GT and mine came with the 4-button keyfob. I have the "THEFT" light in my cluster, but it has never come on. I asked Ford and others and all said that I did not have an "anti-theft" system. I checked it out by opening doors after I locked the system and sure enough, nothing existed that would deter or keep anyone from stealing the car. The panic button was the only line of defense or deterence.

Once I figured out that Ford didn't do squat to protect these vehicles, I immediately went and bought the best DEI alarm available (shock sensors, sound sensors, door/trunk/hood sensors and a host of other stuff). One attempt has been made to steal my car (or at least break in), but the alarm went off as it should and the theif took off immediately. Soon, I'll get motion sensors so that the alarm will trigger a bit sooner. Crimeguard (crutchfield) has a system with an optional pager that alerts you instantly if your alarm is triggered from a mile or two away with specific information (that's cool).

I have an Alarm from made by python with the pager. The thing is a peice of garbage, the remote has had to be replaced already. I have the motion sensor option because my car is a convertible. Well the motion sensor sets the alarm off every like 30 minutes even if no one is by the car. I hate it and dont recommend it.

I bought the Viper Responder for my bronco before I sold it. Its not too sensitive, has remote start, and the pager. I wouldn't get an alarm without a pager because it doesn't do much. If your not close enough to hear it then it will keep going off and anoy everyone. Its also good so you can start it and keep it locked.
