I was looking at a book that I bought that shows how to build stroker small blocks, and in one of there projects they used a Summit 302 Block for a 347 stroker. They said it cost $300, and when they dynoed it, it made 405 at the wheels NA. How strong are these blocks, and are they worth using as a base for a stroker project?

Those are fully machined (by fords production standards) with cam bearings, but the bore might be a little under 4.000".

They are the stock replacement thin wall cast iron production block. They are fine for a mild street car, but if you are trying to build a bulletproof shortblock for a power adder, or just high rpm, it will be the weak link.
