I'm almost done with my t5 and black interior swap. I had to drain the rad fluid so I could get to the trans cooler lines.
I popped the cap off, and filled the rad and overflow up, started car up and let it run for 5-7 minutes at idle, The temp gauge was almost up to the first notch, but didn't seem to be going anywhere. There seems to be a small amount running through upper radiator hose, and it was getting a little hot -- also noticed some small bubbles while looking in the rad, so there must be some opening of t-stat -- I shut the car down because I was unsure if my gauge was working right, and I didn't want to damage the engine.
What period of time should I run the car to allow the thermostat to open fully so that I can get some coolant running?
