had it since senior year of hs, december '03.

But its been in the (extended) family since it was new. I remember driving around in it with the top down when i was a kid, thinking oooo this car is sooo coool!!

never gonna sell it...just too damn in love with it

lots of neat stories in here....I found my car sitting in a used car section of a Hyundai dealership...8 hours later, I had to get my brother to take it off the lot cause i hadn't drive a 5 speed before...

for the next 3 days, that's all i did....drive...drive....drive....by day 3 it was clear I was never going to part with this machine...

what's funny is that I remember people telling me that "the novelty would wear off after a few weeks"

what the hell happened to that idea? 7 years later, I see it and giggle every day it's not in storage...and i've put more money into washing and detailing that car than I've put in my refrigerator since 2000

Found my beast in grade 12, what would be 4 years ago. I had been checking autotrader religiously for the past 8 months. Had 4 potentials in that time, but I was never completely happy with what I found.

One Friday morning I want on autotrader and there it was. I called immediately and setup an appointment to go see it later that day. By the time I looked at it later that night, he had several calls. One guy even offered him 1k over the asking price. Luckily, he was a good man, and since I was the first one to call, he gave me first dibs (and even knocked $200 off the price)

I couldn't sleep for the next two months (I bought the car in early March)

Aaron & Duncan both have some pretty sweet stories. Along with many others of course. It's kind of neat how things work out when it comes to getting your car.

I bought my car because, way back on April 1st of '04 - I was cleaning up my Calypso Green '92 LX 5.0L, washing it all up, applying Mother's Back To Black plastic trim cleaner on... just pulling it out of storage...

when all of a sudden, a black '96 Cobra vert comes strollin by, and behold pulls in to my neighbour's driveway, where my dude neighbour steps out, and shuts the door.
He had the updated cobra r rims, cdc lightbar, and it had a tan interior, with tan carpets.

Aside from the tan part, the car was gorgeous, and here i was, cleaning my car... which i totally forgot about.

That week, I listed my car for sale, and went to go look at that exact same cobra (my neighbour never owned that car, he was driving it around for his buddy who owned a dealership)

I saw that cobra, some things didn't feel right about the car...
then about 3 days later i saw my car, bone stock in autotrader, about 2 hours north, saw it, and the rest is history.

in september of 2005 i decided to sell my auto 87 fox for a stick one. i went and looked at a stick notch, that i loved. well my dad convinced me to go and at least look at a 1995 gts that he saw on the internet. well i went and drove it and was not that impressed, so i left. on the ride home my dad told me i was making a huge mistake by not buying the black 1995, which was nicer. so i sat there thinking about it the whole ride home, got into my driveway, turned around and drove 45 min. back and bought the 1995. was the best decision ever. i love my sn95

Got mine September last year to replace my '01 V6 that was totaled in July.

I wanted a 5.0 and a 'vert, but not a foxbody for a daily driver. It's really obvious that the '95 doesn't brake or turn nearly as well as the '01 did. But I drove my '66 daily from 2000-2002, so I manage.

Also thought it was a good idea to get a car that has already depreciated in case another Toyota driver decides to take this one out.

My dad and I spent a whole Saturday in Tampa looking at '94-'95 'verts and even a '96(glad that didn't happen). When we got back into Lakeland he took a detour and we went past a little hole-in-the-wall lot that had what looked like 2 '96-'98 cars; a black 'vert and a red hardtop. I found out the triple black 'vert was a '95, but someone changed the tails and wheels. I went back to the lot on Monday and got the guy down to $4,800. The guy at the lot was cool, and even showed me his '71 302 Maverick he was restoring in the back shop. I was really impressed with the way those guys ran that little used car lot. Nothing like the horror stories you hear, and IMO 100x better than a new car dealer.

2nd stang. I had a 90.' This one is more refined and I like the way it drives and rides. Less like a toy car. One of the reasons they are so slow stock..this car is putting out less emissions than my new 5 series BMW!

I voted 1-2 months, but I just won the auction on ebay for it about 4 days ago! I still have not even taken delivery yet. Flying out to pick it up on 3/26/07!!!

Upgraded from the v6 in July of 05. I payed $5000 for it and it had 89,000 miles. An old couple had it before me.

i bought mine about 4 years ago.

i was working at a chebby dealer and they took it in on trade. i bought it as a graduation(college) gift for my wife---got it for the cheap. didn't quite figure out that it was such a rare car for a few weeks when i realized the hardtop was factory and not aftermarket.

she got tired of it in less than a year so i sold my TA and took the stang. she bought a civic.

i think about selling it quite a bit, but i feel it'll prolly be the "fourth" car in the garage for a looooonnnnnngggggg time.

Yes, I would....In fact, I plan on buying a 99+ or 4.6 Cobra in the next year or two for my next DD.

I suppose I can add in my mustang story. I've always wanted one ever since I knew what a mustang was, but could never afford one. I would have bought a 4-cyl fox, but the lot was closed that day for some reason... I ended up with an 88 cougar v-6. I really liked that car, but I got tired of driving an automatic after a while. I started looking at mustangs, but they were still too expensive so I bought an 85 RX-7. I had fun with it for about 6 months before I realized it was a pos, so I started looking at stangs again.

At the time all I wanted was a V-8 5-speed, it didn't matter whether it was 4.6 or 5.0 because I didn't really know the difference between them. I found several that I liked, but they were all way too expensive. I even found a T/A I really wanted but it was even more $$$. After several months my uncle told me about a stang for sale at a bank(repo) about 5 miles from my house. I went over there, test drove it, and fell in love instantly. I took it home that day and proceeded to drive it around 50k miles over the next few years. Any time I started getting bored with it, I'd just throw on a few more mods.

Other than my mustang and the mazda I have now, which I'm trying to sell, I've never owned a car more than a year. Well...I guess I did have my cougar for about a year and a half, but I stopped driving it when I got the RX-7.

Oh yeah, my parents, my brother, and my cousin now have stangs because of me. My uncle was even looking for one not too long ago and he's always been a die hard chevy guy.

since everyone else is tossing up their stories....

first summer after high school graduation i was looking for something faster and a bit more reliable than the 88 acura legend i had to be a DD to college. went looking for a T/A at this lot a good hour away. too pricey, but they had a bunch of SN-95 stangs on the lot as well. got to looking at them and started really liking the look. On the drive home, we passed this mustang at this guys house. called the guy up, offered him 100 bucks on the spot because two other guys stopped while we were looking at it. guy said he put it out only 1.5 hour ago. was his wife's summer car. Found out later that the guy i bought it off of was brothers with this girl i worked with. small world...

ended up selling it two years later to buy the one i have now. i wanted faster and found this one up in Queens NY. checked it out monday night, drove it home friday night.

i've had mine for almost 2 years! and love every minute of it!! Most of the time. I justed always loved Mustangs. I had a gtp and had to sell and I got back in the mustang game!

That's a tough one. I don't see myself in a new edge, but I don't think I'd turn down a Terminator Cobra or a 2000 R.

I could see myself in one of the SN197 Mustang's tho. But that would be my daily driver while I modded the hell out of my '94.

The SN95 body has a whole lot going for it in the "sex appeal" aspect. IMHO it is the pony car that looks most like a sports car.
