How many convertibles in Portland?

So I am tossing around the idea of buying a convertible but living here in the Pac NW I am not quite sure if it's a good idea or not, or if there is enough times that I can drive with the top down to justify it.

I am curious if there is anyone here that drives a convertible and curious as to what you think. Is the top of good enough quality to be able to drive when it's cold outside and it keeps the heat in alright? How about when it rains does it keep the water out?

Car in consideration.

I wouldn't get a convertible! They are no fun and you can never have the top down due to all the bad weather. The ladies hate them too.
The heat stays in and the water stays out as long as the top is up. I don't drive in the rain much though. Will this be your daily driver? Nice looking car and good luck with your decision.

Yes it would be a daily driver for me. I have always loved the look of that car and found one for sale for a fairly decent price.

The only experience I had with a convertible was back in high school with my friends MG Midget and it had a brand new top but still never worked right.

I've had my 93 since 1998. It was my daily driver until 3 years ago. Other than being a little noisier than a closed car, there is no difference in weathertightness (is that a word?) between the two. I've continuously owned a convertible for more than twenty years and wouldn't be without one.

Verts in the NW

I have a 2000 Gt Vert, It's also Zinc Yellow, Exellent color choice, by the way! The newer convertibles have a inner headliner built into them, they are very quiet inside, and as warm as a hardtop, this car has been a daily driver since new, and there is plenty of good weather to drive it in.
When it's nice and sunny you just can't beat a Vert!!!
I will always have at least one convertible in my garage!!!

Sweet information as like I said the last experience I had with them was not the best and it looks as though they have come a long way since then. I have always loved the look of the Saleen Speedsters and love how this car is layed out.

There are several breeds of convertible owner. The first breed buys the vert, never uses it and then sells the car. The second breed buys the vert, utilizes it occasionally and off loads the car after a few years. The third and most pathetic of the group, buys the convertible, (especially if it is a black '99 Cobra vert) and has the top down at all times, including the middle of winter. He will then head to the local mustang meets wearing a snow parka and beenie with the top down. (You know who you are).
Seriously, get the vert and enjoy it. If you drive your car every day, you will find occasions to put the top down throughout the year. When it is up, the car will still be quite pleasant, even in the rain and cold.

What about the breed that mods the crap out of their car, drives it only when it's nice out, blows the motor, trany, clutch, and so on. Waste money on race gas due to 20+ PSI on the new motor. Never takes it down the track for that one glories pass of 12 seconds.
That breed kicks A$$.

Me and my brother both have fox body verts, mine's a 90 with no headliner and considerably louder inside than my bro's with a headliner. However, even without it I only really notice the noise at speeds above 60-65.

As far as nice weather, there's enough to make it worth it for a cruiser or DD.

ummmm, for what it's worth, I loved to drive with the top down regardless of the icicles hanging from my nose and goat! It stays warm inside and it is really not that noisy unless you have exhaust! Which by the way, you might be seeing towards the begining of September!
