How many miles is to many on a 93 5.0???

Is 110,000 miles to many miles to start adding new heads, new upper and lower intake, and cam??? The engine itself is in good shape never missed an oil change. I already have the following items: 65mm TB, Headers, pullies, H-pipe, Flowmasters, K&N Air filter, Steede Sport springs, 3.55 gear, all new poly bushings on the front and rear end, aluminum drive shaft, and a set of Mac upper and lower control arms on the rear.

I put a supercharger on mine at 128,000.

If it holds good oil pressure and has good compression there is nothing wrong with adding new parts to the top half of the motor. You must know that evently, the engine will deteriorate faster if you are hard on it all the time.

From my own personal experience 90k was too many miles for my shortblock to handle. But it was probably abused. If you have one that was maintained correctly go for it.

The 93 has the crudest pistons they put in a mustang get all new pistons bearings and rods......stroke it maybe?

cheddar bacon - I find that statement very misrepresented...I have a 93 with 153k on it with h/c/i and drive it ALL day EVERY day (daily driver and only car)...

The 93 (some later 92's) have the hyperuetic pistons that are lighter than the 87-92 forged pistons and have a better cold start seal to them compared to the forged. The forged have a bit better advantage with boosted/nitrous applications...but the hyper pistons work very well for N/A and there are plenty of people pushing lots of boost with these "bad" pistons...the block will most likely go before the piston from what I have heard/seen...

I have 153k (as I stated) on my daily driver and have had the h/c/i on my car for nearly 10k miles now...still running strong

i have 148,000 on mine and race every weekend...these blocks are TOUGH..it still holds up to 4.10s and 125 shot of happy gas

Blocks good up to 300,000 miles if you take care of it and don't beat the **** outta it... just happens most of them are beaten up by their owners...haha but who can blame them?

But yeah, go ahead and mod yours!

Actually you are incorrect. The 93 came with high silicon content pistons which do not take abuse like a forged piston would but the sealing capabilitys are better because the piston doesn't expand as much allowing a tighter ring gap. Tighter means less wear and more hp. The only reason that the 93 had the lowest factory rated hp was because of a change in the way they rated the engine not because it was weaker. In some publications i have read that the 93 made 5-8 more rwhp than previous years.
Back to the piston deal.---- The main reason that everyone dislikes the 93 pistons is due to the fact that they will not accept mistakes like a forged will such as nitrus backfires or leaning out that is commonly assosiated with non N/A cars. The pistons cant handle this.
If the engine is in good shape it should be fine, I have seen 5.0s go a long way with a lot of ragging but good maintence. good luck

Just did H/C/I swap after 115,000 miles 30,000 of those were supercharged. Runs great and makes some great power. I also have been very meticulous with the maintenance so if it runs different for whatever reason I look into it asap. Just treat it right.
