How many of you have rear disc brakes?

I would do a little research before I wrote off buying brakes. I was being sarcastic with my previous post. I believe it's the stopping ability before you lock up the brakes that makes a difference. And believe me, it's a huge differecne.

If bigger brakes were worth nothing, I would think we would see Nascar and IRL running the fabulous 10" single piston front, and 9" rear drum package made famous by the Fox Mustang. I don't think so.

The only reason they have those are for FADE RESISTANCE. The stock Mustang brakes are GREAT for your panic stops/emergency stops... But not so great in repeatable stops, ie road course.... If you take your car to the road course often, then yes.. big brakes will make a huge difference in longevity and fade resistance.

Agreed! Repeated stabs from 60-0 at the treashold of lock up will seriously heat up and warp a stock rotor. The larger brakes offer more consistant braking for serious poundings without worry. There is also a slight increase in the mechanical advantage of a larger rotor which makes slowing the car down faster, with less heat, easier...

It's not just the size of the rotors.I just completed my brake conversion.I found a big improvement going to the 1999-2004's 44.5 twin piston front calipers.I retained the ~11" (1994-2004) front rotors.I went with the 1994-2004 rear disk setup.I disagree with the suggestion that the stock brakes are deficient only because they fade after repeated stops.I think they are simply too weak.

I dont think the Stock Fox Brakes are good for Anything but maybe an Anchor, the Penny-Pincher that let them leave the Factory that way should be shot! After having one too many Deer run out in front of me I decided I wanted real brakes on my car!
