how many of you running 8 rib set up? problems?

just curious to whos running the 8 rib pully set up with their blower, and if you are having any problems or ar thisnd smoothing sailing?

i was reading over on ************ and there was a topn of threads about throwing belts, and having problems with the 8 rib.

i have to go 8 rib for my future setup and want to know what im in for. i thought the 8 rib was good.

im running an 8 rib, but of course i have a dedicated blower belt. im having no problems with it

We run it on our 96 Cobra. It trashes belts. The issue is that the Vortech bracket is weak so it flexes and causes the idler to wled itself to the front cover and the belt goes bye-bye.

so how the heck are you supposed to run a 2.9 blower pully? i dont want it slippin./

I have 8-rib with my Novi and seems to be good. I am running it with a 2.8 pulley and a 106.5" belt.

thanks for the reply wot. can you give me some info?

what psi does that equate to for you? what hp are you making?

and most importantly, what 8 rib kit did you buy? i was looking at the gi joe one but he uses the rr pullies. those are the ones i hear are shreading belts.

what do you think?

Go turbo mang . Then you wont have to worry about these problems...when I was looking around @ S/Cs thats they one thing I didnt like. Freegin belts to mess with. If you stay 6 rib, you have to stay at lower boost settings...if you up it, you have belt slip (wears out the belt). If you convert to 8 rib, then you shread belts every 500 miles. I know this isnt your DD, so its not as big of a concern....but for me I drive 90-100 miles a day 3-4 days a week to work.

If you can find someone that makes a overdrive lower pulley, that would be the best thing...but I just dont know how much room you have. You may also want to get into contact with Dave himself and see what he can do for you to prevent belt carnage with his 8RIb setup. I know he is all about quality, and im sure he knows what you can do.

hotmustang, its always somthin you know. i really dont want to shred belts and be left on the street i rather have belt slpi. why cant they just come up with something that works, i dont get it.

some guys have no problems and some guys do. i need the recipe to the ones that work.

if it's aligned properly, I don't see any reason why it would give you problems.
