I have been driving my 89 5.0 5 speed for 17 years as a daily driver. I will be keeping it, but I have been looking for an 01 or 02 GT to use as my daily driver. After reading the massive 3650 problem thread, I have become really nervous about buying one of these cars. I really don't want to go through a lot of expensive transmission repairs. I need a reliable daily driver. I would like to know how common these problems are. How many of you have not had problems with yours?

Had the TR3650 on my old '02 GT and now my '03 Mach 1, no real problems here, just slight 2nd gear clash just after startup during the winter time, but it goes away after a minute or 2 when it warms up some. Or if u just take it easy for the first few minutes in the cold there's no clash at all. It's smooth as butter in the warmer months and a aftermarket shifter is a simple relatively inexpensive mod that helps a ton.

i would suggest not buying a mustang with the 3650, unless you got $2200 to buy a TKO. which i am about to do.

Mines a little stiff on cold mornings, but fine when she gets warmed up. sometimes after its been parked a while it doesnt want to go into reverse, but i just let the car roll back a bit, and it goes right in.

No other problems so far, 63k on the clutch, daily driven until 61k and i get on it frequently when i drive.

No problems with mine original one untill I took my car to ford for a clutch/flywheel install, Then all of a sudden I had bad snychros and 2-3 gear teeth were broke. . other than Ford screwing it up, no problems here.

MIne's pretty good so far....an occasional clash. I've thought about taking it in for the service while its under warranty, but afraid they'll just screw it up worse. 29k on mine so far.

I dont think it should be something to scare you away from buying a mid-01-04 GT. Its not perfect, but its better than the T-45. I could have taken it in for the TSB, but honestly its not that big of a nuicance.

mines only mean to me when I'm actually racing, when the runs don't count I don't have any problems, but as soon as the official bracket starts, it never fails...

Having a serious problem is pretty hit or miss, if you're lucky you will find a car that has the fix.

So in most cases this is more of an occasional annoyance than an actual part failure that has to be repaired? I won't be racing or powershifting, just normal driving.

normal driving its not usually an issue except when its cold, and even then only for a few miles.

mine was annoying but not show stopping...

I took it in, showed the guys a TSB, and they fixed it for free. Ever since I have not had any issues at all

The 3650 "problem" was a bit blown out of proportion if you ask me.

Daily driving and spirited driving u should be just fine, seems like most get into trouble when they start powershifting, blowing synchros and **** like that, so I wouldn't worry too much if I were u.

Sounds like something I could live with. Hopefully I can find one that hasn't been abused.
