how many quarts of oil go into a 4.6 GT motor?

I just put 5 quarts in my 02 GT but i looked in my dad's explorer manual and it said 4.6's take 6 quarts. is that the same for mustang 4.6's?

i believe the manual says 5.5 for the GT, but i usually just put 6 in.

And i just had my oil changed last weekend guy said it took 7 quarts, i looked at him like he was insane,but thats what it took.

For my 2001, the manual says 5 (including filter).
I know it takes 5, I've been through this with Jiffy Boob.
The oil change man put 7 qts in without me knowing.
The reason I found that out that it was overfilled was because
I was burning oil through my exhaust. I re-check the dipstick
and it was WAY past the full mark. Then I look at the bill and he
charged for 2 extra qts. The 4.6 block is the same, so
could it be that some model Mustangs have the F-150 oil pan?

6 if you change the filter, 5 if you don't...

I have a 2002 GT, and the manual shows 6 quarts, but my friend owns a 2001 GT and his manual shows 5 quarts. But I've noticed that even though my manual shows 6 quarts, when I check the oil level, it shows I am 1/2 quart low. It's amazing on how many little differences I have with my 2002 Gt to my friends 2001 GT.

I changed oil last month, and bought a jug of Mobil 1 5W-30 from wallyworld. Poured the entire thing in, and my level was right between full and low.

I work at a lube shop and my stang takes 6.0 quarts.... But some older 4.6s only take five! what i have noticed is that it seems the dip sticks are different and vary from year to year. I do know that ALL 4.6s in the trucks take 6.0 so i figure if its a 4.6 throw 6 quarts in it

i recently got an oil change and the guy put 7 quarts in my 2002 gt and it seems like it's loosing power or not reacting as fast could it be cause of the oil ?

I've never thought about this but when I rebuilt my motor I'm not quite sure if my dipstick went in as far as the stock one did. Not really any way to know that now. Who knows then if it's full when the dipstick says so.
