How many/which gauges on a FI car?

Hello everyone! I'm looking at going FI in a year or two, but I am already planning the supporting/extra items I will need so I have an idea of the total cost. This will also mean I will be torturing myself until I get the blower in a year or two. The things we do. Anyway. How many/what gauges would people recommend on a FI stock longblock car? I know I'll be looking at getting a boost gauge and I really want to watch the air/fuel with a wideband. But, three gauges is getting pretty busy if I add a fuel pressure gauge into the mix as well. Which combination would everyone recommend? Thanks for the help!

boost, a/f, fuel pressure, oil pressure. that's what i would do. you can get one of those speedo trim pieces that keep the 2 down in the corners and get a speed of sound a pillar for the others. it wont be too busy and it should nice and neat in there.

Get Boost/Vac & Wideband Air/Fuel Gauge. That way you can see boost and keep check on lean/rich conditions.

i run boost, wideband AFR, and fuel pressure. i have a dual pos a pillar with boost and FP, and my wideband is on the steering column

oil pressure would be a good one to add also.

boost and wideband at a minimum. fuel and oil pressure are good ones too. Have you looked into PLX? they have a interesting setup because the guages are like littel t.v. screens and the actuall sensor modules are mounted somewhere else on the car. The reall big plus is that one guage can display 4 different sensors at any one time and up to 32 can be connected to one guage. So If you ran just 2 guages you could monitor everything and then some. Yes they are a little pricey but your interior wont look riced out if you want to monitor a lot of different things. check them out PLX Devices Inc. - Custom Digital Gauges, Wideband O2 Air Fuel Ratio, OBD 2, Data Loggers watch the videos.

The PLX Devices are great, especially when you have it displaying 4 sensors at the same time which cut down on all the space that the gauges would normally take up. That being said, the more the merrier, but at an absolute minimum, you've got to have an air/fuel and boost. But if it were my car, I'd go with fuel pressure too, and flip a coin for the oil pressure gauge.

I have heard comments about how gauges looked "ricer". That is only if they are unneeded. The more you know about what is going on in your engine the better. I would even recommend an oil pressure gauge. I am not saying they all need to be out in the open where everyone who drive past you sees them but it is a cheap early warning if something is going wrong in your engine. I would rather see a problem on a gauge rather than when I spit a connecting rod out the side of the block. Thats just my opinion and everyone has their own.

Those PLX's do look nice. I don't see any option for a fuel pressure sensor though. I guess you could just run a standard gauge for that. Hmm...

They have a "fluid pressure" module that can be used for either fuel or oil pressure. I am not sure where you would hook up either or how. I am sure I could find a spot for the oil pressure but iam not sure about fuel.
