How much boost can you run on a r302 block with forged internals with a vortech or Paxton without a intercooler? i would like to run water methanol but i dont know if it would be enough?? I would like to someday safely get it up to 18-22psi. but without a intercooler will i be able too?

The R302 can handle 1000hp. Remember, boost isnt the issue, the power produced is.

There are way too many things to consider that you didn't mention to say how much boost you could see. You didn't even say what blower you want to use. S-trim? T? XX? YSi?

With a YSi and the right stuff to go with it you should be able to run 25-28 psi.

If you're going to be making that kind of power, why not be safe and get an intercooler to go with it? With THAT much boost you're going to be making ALOT of heat. People making upwards of 20psi usually buy every cooling part and use every cooling technique out there to keep their combos safe and breathing easy.

You're kinda playing with fire with no fire extinguisher sorta speak.

yea main things to keep in check would not to be worry about power output cause that block is nearly indestructable. Just as long as its a good tune as far as A/F and timing. Oil pressure and temps. of everything is very important. Cause when something small goes wrong with a 1000hp beast big things go wrong even faster.

fiveo'cobra i would love to be able to run a intercooler but with a vortech paxton on our years i cant run any sort of inertcooler except water/methanol. What else do you recommend or would water methanol be able to cool a paxton novi 2000 or a vortech YSi at 18-22psi?

intercooler

You need to run an intercooler with any charger setup over 10psi period. If you have a 94 or 95 gt, just switch to a 93 type cobra intake, and run an intercooler just like the one for the 93 vortech high output kit. You can buy the same intercooler on silicone intakes.com for a couple hundred bucks, and it is ready to plumb with the water lines and add a heat exchanger and your good.

have you done this mattmoles? pictures? I don't see what is so special about a cobra intake vs. any other aftermarket intake. the problem that i've always heard is the shock towers being in the way not the fact of of the 94-95 elbow. what are you basing your 10psi on?

Apparently my ex-husband made that mistake.

People have run over 50psi of boost on an R-block.
