how much power can you safely put into a stock 03 mach 1?? are they the same as the cobra motors?? or do they have the crappy rods and pistons like the gt's???
i know that the 5-speed has a better crankshaft than the automatic i believe it's te same as the GT. The piston and rods will have to be replaced for a FI set up and the C/R lowered
The 5 speed has a higher rev limit then the auto...thats why it has the forged 8 bolt crank compared to the auto's cast six bolt. All the machs have the same crappy pistons/rods as gt's.

Too add to this... the stock crank in the GT isn't usually the weak link, it's good for 500rwhp (i think?), it's the rods and pistons (most say 400rwhp).
these horsepower numbers are just guidelines. many many factors play into what can handle what. is it FI or N/A what type of FI if it is. it has to do more with cylinder presure than horsepower it's self.
to answer your question. NO the stock mach 1 can not handle the power as a 03-04 cobra motor. the cobra motor has forged pistons and rods and a lower compression ratio.
