How Much Can An AODE Handle?

Since my piston rings are shot, I either need to rebuild the engine or get a new one, or sell the car.

I am just curious as to a rough estimate of how much power an AODE can take before it grenade's itself?

If I do a motor, I don't want to kill the tranny soon after. Thanks.

I've read that a stock AODE can handle up to 50hp more than the stock 5.0 output. Installing a shift kit alone will help it handle more HP, and a separate tranny cooler will help further.
You could have your AODE rebuilt with stronger internals to handle 400+hp. There are plenty of rebuild kits to choose from with a wide price difference depending on whether you go for a strong street set-up or a full race set-up.

Only 50 more h.p., wow.

I figured I would have to either get a shift kit and/or some other pieces, or get a whole new tranny. Although, I have only seen AODE's, in beefed up form, in Jeg's for like $2000.

I'll keep searching and weighing my options, thanks.

im takin the route of putting a stock AODE in my car(current AODE has **** the bed...) taking out the current AODE, having that rebuilt to basically hold up to 600ish. If i can find my sheet that i had a guy build for me, i will definitely pass it along!

Thanks everyone for the information! inphiniti, drakesdad, if you guys wouldn't mind pm'n me the build list, if you have, that would be appreciated!

The problem I am having is that I think I would be okay with the mods. in my sig. put on a new 306 shortlock. I just didn't want to invest all that money in the engine, to have the trans. take a crap on me soon after.

I have looked at the 4R70w swap somewhat, mostly on www.LaSotaRacing.com .
I just think it might be easier to beef up an AODE.

gcomfx.com, that link was very helpful:nice:
